Teen Dating & Healthy Relationships (TDHR)
An interactive workshop series that equips middle and high-school students with the skills to identify unhealthy behaviors, communicate boundaries, and build respectful relationships.
TDHR combines media analysis, scenario-based activities, and peer dialogue to make relationship education relatable and action-oriented. Facilitators lead students through role-play and reflective exercises that strengthen non-violent communication, bystander intervention, conflict-resolution, and empathy. Lessons also address how race, gender, sexuality, and media stereotypes influence expectations in dating.
TDHR serves more than six hundred students across Los Angeles County each year, partnering with public schools, charter networks, and community centers. Workshops require one class period per week for five weeks, and include bilingual materials for caregivers. Schools may also purchase a digital resource kit, including lesson plans, discussion guides, and the video series, for continued use in health or advisory classes.

How TDHR Connects Across Our Programs
The Teen Dating & Healthy Relationships curriculum does not stand alone. It taps the full Justice for My Sister ecosystem to keep lessons relevant, engaging, and professionally produced.
Five original educational videos anchor each workshop. The stories were drafted in our script labs with current program participants, then refined by community filmmakers from our Video Diaries network. Production relied on twenty-five graduates of the Production Assistant (PA) Certification Program, who handled everything from set safety to post-production workflows, and on eight local actors recruited through our Alumni Network.
This collaboration shows our programs sinergy. The result is material that speaks the language of today’s teens while modeling real career pathways in film and television.
