At Justice for My Sister (JFMS), we believe filmmakers of color need access to quality professional opportunities and paid jobs.

Our Production Assistant (PA) Training Certification Program started in 2022 to provide our students with their first on-set job opportunities—an essential step in starting their careers. By the end of the program, participants will have completed 100+ hours of training. When you support filmmakers of color:

  • You contribute to the diversification of the industry and provide a platform for underrepresented artists to pursue economic independence.

  • You support ambitious, emerging filmmakers who, due to a lack of paid entry-level job opportunities, cannot find industry work, affecting them and their families, who often rely on them as breadwinners.

  • You provide a living to filmmakers from low-income communities of color who might experience gender-based violence, joblessness, or stay in abusive relationships due to a lack of economic independence.

  • You help emerging filmmakers perfect their skills and land additional fellowship and job opportunities.

As a result of this program, five of our participants have gone on to secure studio production jobs in mainstream TV and film. We have provided stipends to 100% of our students who have progressed to Phase 2 of the program so that they may work on BIPOC-led short films throughout Los Angeles.

Help us reach our goal of $12,000 to bring this program to more filmmakers of color. Donate here or scroll down to find additional ways to support this program!

Here is how you can support this program.

Your donation provides our students with opportunities to practice the skills learned in our programs while giving them paid job opportunities to add to their resumes, so they can move up the ladder and find success as artists.
